Contrary to popular belief our founder Dave Crockett wasn’t born in Tennessee or Texas. He was born in Baltimore MD and is the third child out of four. Dave’s family moved from Baltimore to Hollywood FL and then to Tucson AZ where he grew up. But a kid can only roam the desert so long before becoming restless. It was as a freshman in high school that he discovered radio. Thus began the ritual of using the phone hanging on the wall of the kitchen to bug the crap out of all the local DJ’s. In time he became a regular contributor on a small local station. That station later hired him right out of high school to spin records and produce commercials.
It was at that first station that his lifelong passion with audio developed. His broadcasting career took Dave all over the country. He worked at legendary stations like WLS-FM in Chicago and KKBQ-FM in Houston, TX. Along the way, he won several awards for his productions skills. He was once honored as “The Radio Personality Of The Year.” He’s is also a member of the Texas Radio Hall Of Fame. Which only means he paid his $15 membership fee and is still waiting to be inducted.
In 2006 Dave grew tired of how bland the radio had become. So he again turned his attention back to audio production. He went to work with Bill Young Productions. It was there that he enjoyed voicing and producing tour spots for acts like The Back Street Boys, Big & Rich, Gary Allen, Pat Benatar and many others. But after three years at BYP, and at the urging of others, Dave moved on and opened his own studio. On his own, he has more creative control and freedom while also focusing on a more diverse clientele. In 2010 The Dave Crockett Production Group was formed.
But Dave is more than just a pretty voice. He has also appeared on camera in the hit NBC dramatic series “Friday Night Lights.” He was cast as the featured principle in a nationally aired television commercial for DishNet. Most recently he appeared on camera for The E-Shot, an infomercial airing on the Hunting Channel.
“Don’t get me wrong, The on-camera stuff is a lot of fun, but my true passion is producing commercials. My biggest thrill is getting an email or phone call from a client who is thrilled with their spot. A great feeling!”
In their down time, Dave and his wife Mary live in the suburbs of Houston, TX with their 70-pound bulldog Jake. They have four kids between them who are all grown and all work in unrelated industries.
